Day 1

After a 9 hour flight from Minneapolis to London, we arrived at 12:00 noon, London time. There is a 6 hour difference, so that would be 6:00 AM ND time!

I am fortunate to have a travel companion, from my old stomping ground...Hillsboro! Mike Bitz, the Superintendent from Hillsboro is also attending the conference. The other guy is Mark Griesbach...an dear friend from my 4-H and FarmHouse college days. Mark was our official tour guide as he has lived in London that past 10 years.

We had to go through "customs" since we were entering a "foriegn" country; London is an english speaking country and doesn't "feel" very foriegn. At the customs checkpoint they wanted to know why we were entering the country, and if we were bringing anything "illegal" into the country. Such as "foods"; thank goodness they didn't take my "crispy sweet apple" :(. Yes Mike, I kept it!

Once we got our luggage, we found the "Underground" and took the "tube" to our hotel. The "tube" is like the subway in America. It is heavily used in London, as it is very difficult to drive. The streets are very narrow, and with 12 million people, yes I said 12 million..... it is very crowed.

After quickly getting to our rooms, I called our "personal tour guide" Mark (an old college friend who lives in London), and hit the ground running....with an umbrella in our hand, of course. It has been an unseasonably wet summer/fall in London....forcast today.... heavy rain and chance of flooding! Ha...it didn't stop us!
